Focusing on Work Safety
Work safety has always been emphasized in Elcoteq’s Hungary plant in Pécs. Starting from this year the Management of Elcoteq Hungary Ltd. started to pay more attention to work safety on account of the appropriate and safe work. If employees are satisfied with their workplace and work circumstances, the quality of work will also improve.
Work safety is not only about accident prevention, but it is a more complex activity, of which accident prevention is just one area. It is very important that work safety organizations can help the management to create a more save and efficient manufacturing and working environment.
The Work Safety Committee started its work with an augmented headcount, at present with 18 members, thus fulfilling their obligations perfectly by now. The members of the Committee are working in the production area, so they are always close to the problems and employees working in the production thus they can easily and immediately signal the problematic areas and problems to the work safety engineers in order to avoid problems more effectively. We could say that they are the eyes of the work safety engineers.
This year the work safety organization was augmented by the “Joined Committee”, the new department of the organization. The function of this committee is to ensure a mutual communication between the management and employees as an organization of compliance of interest. Their task, besides others, is to evaluate the status of work safety in the company regularly but at least once in a year, discuss the work safety program and also follow its fulfillment with attention and make proposals on implementation of internal rules related work safety issues.
So with the cooperative teamwork of the Management, the Work Safety Engineers, the Work Safety Committee, and the Joined Committee and of course with the help of the employees – as they need to obey the rules – starting now, employees could work under safer circumstances.
