Elcoteq shared the views on electronics manufacturing services in India
ELECTRONICS NEXT INDIA 2010 being held in New Delhi on February 24 - 26 was a platform for information exchange among all players in the electronics value chain. Conferences and seminars with professionals from major companies shared valuable information, insights and knowledge of the electronics manufacturing market in India.
In Elcoteq seminars, Mr. Patrik Åhgren, Vice President, APAC Sales and Business Development of Elcoteq, introduced a modern approach about reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) by considering the whole life cycle of a product. That also included the cost saving potentials of local manufacturing in India for domestic and international supply. Early involvement of electronics manufacturing services providers’ contribution in the design phase could help achieve considerable savings. Mr. Åhgren elaborated the topic more in details as well to the editor of Global SMT & Packaging journal in an interview after the seminar.

The availability of a high quality and secure domestic supplier base is the key for successful electronics manufacturing in India. Another speaker of Elcoteq seminar, Mr. Yogesh Sarin, Supply Chain Manager of Elcoteq Electronics India Pvt. Ltd. shared Elcoteq’s practical experiences in developing its supply chain and gave an outlook about the future challenges in localization in India.
Mr. Sukhvinder Kumar, General Manager of Elcoteq Electronics India Pvt. Ltd. participated in the panel discussion themed “Vision for the future: Opportunities for India in the Global Electronics Industry”. According to Mr. Kumar, there are ample growth opportunities in electronics manufacturing market in India though there are many challenges at the same time. The electronics manufacturing services provider should gear up for this immense opportunity ahead.
Mr. Sukhvinder Kumar noted the opportunities of EMS in India at the panel discussion themed ‘Vision for the future : Opportunities for India in the Global Electronics Industry’.
