Barrier-free cheering for Paralympics
One hundred Elcoteq employees raised their voices to cheer the athletes who participated in the Beijing Paralympic Games, held September 6-17, in Beijing China. Selected by the Beijing Olympic Governing Committee, they were among the 1000 volunteers participating on the Paralympic cheerleading squad.
Besides yelling slogans like, “Go Go athletes!”, they used sign language, made special gestures, and applauded together when singing, to make sure that there were no barriers to communicating the joy, excitement, and encouragement they felt to these special athletes. Every Elcoteq volunteer considered their selection an honor, and spent many hours in training, learning and practicing the presentation skills.
The Paralympics offered barrier-free facilities and transportation services for all athletes at the Paralympic Games. Just as they did at the summer Olympic Games, these Elcoteq volunteer cheerleaders kept their promise that there would be no barriers to cheering and showing their best wishes to these special world-class athletes.
